On Resolutions ~ There is No Such Thing as Quitting

Is quitting an act of strength, or of weakness?
The only kind of quitting that seems to be quick and easy is the kind done in a fit of determined bravado,
by drunken announcement, or in the throes of a livid white rage. And in these cases the adrenalin of the impulsive moment is too soon replaced with regret, guilt, craving or caving. And wait, what are we quitting anyway? Well, either something that we love, that is bad for us, and we know it, or something that we detest, and we just can't stand any longer, or it's a dropping out, a complete giving up, on something we once embarked upon with an illusion of success...we want out of a poorly executed process before it spirals. When you decidedly quit something, you halt, you stop it, you end it, there is no going back...you cut the ties. And depending on what you just quit, you may feel elation, freedom, terror, humiliation, sweaty-palm withdrawal symptoms or worst of all worsts, entirely lost in a panic attack. Whether quitting is sudden, or well-thought out, it is done. And once done, the choice has been made. Once you know something, you can't unknow it. At this moment you need to take a deep breath, and remember that Eckhart Tolle said that enlightenment is not something to work towards, it is an immediate choice, it can occur this very moment. You can choose to be enlightened and positive and know that the change you have made is the right one, because you inevitably came to it, you arrived, and what lies ahead is limitless as opposed to the constraint you have broken free of. You are not a loser for quitting anything. You are a beginner. We only truly ever quit because we have higher standards for ourselves. You will never truly give up or quit on what you really want or what you are meant to do. So actually, there is no such thing as quitting, there is only moving in the right direction, always, if we respect ourselves, follow our hearts deeply and to the core. Look back on every time you quit anything, and see if the following doesn't apply:

"And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom." ~Anais Nin

“Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.”~ Albert Einstein

"You may take time to crystallize, for crystallization is a slow process, but when you finally do, you will be crystal clear" ~ my father, David Clark
